Treadmills reviewed.
True treadmills began life in
the early 80's by a couple of brothers with the last name of Trulaske. These treadmills are incredibly quiet and are an
absolute joy to use, but they also come at a pricing premium,
so if you're a little short of funds and are looking for great
quality and great value, then True is probably not for
you.
A True treadmill will range in
price between $2,000 and $6,000, so as we mentioned above,
it's clearly on the higher end of the pricing scale.
With that said though, the components they use in all of their
treadmills are excellent. Their belt and deck system is the
absolute best in the industry, bar none. And that's why they
can get away with charging more. Everything they build, is
built to last.
As a side note, they get many, many accolades from leading
independent reviewers. As an example, Runner's World gave True
treadmills two back to back awards recently as "Best in Test".
The
True brand of treadmills carries a very respectable warranty. All models
carry a lifetime warranty on the frame and the 500 series
covers parts for a long 10 years. Even the lower end True models
cover parts for 5 years. But keep in mind, True's lower end
models are higher than most manufacturers high end treadmills. And all True models cover labor
for one year. You definitely don't need to purchase an
extended warranty on a True treadmill.
The nice folks at True will be
around for a long time. They've been at it now for more than
20 years. They're dedicated to the fitness industry by
consistently putting out top quality products. Not only
treadmills, but other fitness equipment as well. And because
of their higher pricing, they generally sell a lower volume of
treadmills, which means that they can back up their treadmills
with outstanding service. Contrast this with some high volume
treadmill manufacturers who always have to sell, sell, sell
due to their lower pricing. Service can slip occasionally with
this type of manufacturer.
Overall, we have to issue a rating of 9/10 on the True
treadmills. Quite frankly, the only
reason why we can't issue a 10 is because of their pricing.
They need to adjust downward about $500 per treadmill and then
it'll be an absolute tremendous value. As it stands though,
make no mistake that their treadmills are well built and a
premium machine to own.
